From the education desk:
I think it is
safe to say that spring has finally
sprung!!!!! Everyday the trees turn
greener with their new foliage,
tulips and daffodils are in full
bloom. Soon the red bud trees will
burst in beautiful sprays of tiny
purple flowers, yes; I do believe
winter has left the state!
With the
arrival of Spring each year comes my
favorite week of the year, the week
that we get to honor and celebrate
with all of you who have given of
your time and talents so
unselfishly, EMS Week, beginning May
18th and concluding May
24, 2008. Many of you will be
treated to meals and tokens during
this week as a small gesture of
appreciation of the service you
provide. I have been fortunate
enough to see what an important,
vital service you all provide to the
citizen’s of your respective
communities. Without these services
many of the very people you have
tended to would no longer be with
us. They would have never seen the
gentle, caring side of what EMS is
all about. You are not just
ambulance drivers; you are
competent, compassionate people who
are exceptionally well prepared to
handle any emergency that comes your
way. You handle the dying with
respect and dignity, you ease the
fears of our children, and sometimes
you are the only people with our
children in their final moments so
that we know they did not go alone.
You are the saviors of those who
should not be here but are, because
you made a difference! You are truly
people who genuinely CARE! With all
of the terrorism, disease and lunacy
in this world of ours, you are the
people who rush to help, putting
your life on hold to help complete
strangers, neighbors, friends and
family. I salute each and every one
of you and thank you all from the
bottom of my heart for doing the
jobs that you do, my family thanks
you as does my community! I wish
each of you a wonderful EMS week,
may it be filled with the respect
and gratitude that each of you have
earned!
Yours in Safety
and Appreciation,
